It’s hard to get found sometimes

When you search online for something totally random like carpet drying fans Austin, or carpet flood damage Austin , or carpet repair service Austin, which are fairly specific, you get almost 7 million results. 7 million! Which means if you’re a 31-year old blonde from Duluth, looking for Mr. Right online, you’re probably in really big trouble.

My point? It’s tough to stand out, no matter how special you are.

So what do you do? Lead with what’s original about you, rather than the traits you share with thousands of other people. Like brown hair or blue eyes or a fondness for Jon Stewart or Katy Perry. Focus on what makes you stand out, rather than what makes you blend in. (You once arm-wrestled Jon Stewart, or Katy Perry borrows stuff from your closet, or you just happen to train seeing-eye dogs to read call-waiting, and bark differently when Great Aunt Edna calls versus say, somebody conducting a Gallup Poll on how much bacon you consume in a calendar year.)

Because that’s the thing that will mean the difference between meeting someone who likes you versus meeting someone who gets you.

And that’s all we really want, isn’t it?
